Soprano Katie Surine (she/her) has sung a wide range of classical repertoire, from early to modern, sacred to secular. Past operatic roles include Venus (King Arthur), Dulcine (Angry Birdsong), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and Celia in the 2016 world premiere of Roger Steptoe's As You Like It. Concert and solo credits include the Allegri “Miserere” (St. James Cathedral), Mozart's “Exsultate jubilate” (St. James Cathedral), Shavon Lloyd’s “Alleluia” (Washington Master Chorale), Richard Lloyd’s “Drop Down Ye Heavens” (Christ Church Georgetown & St. James Cathedral), Handel’s Messiah (Notre Dame Chorale), and a Female Quartet member in Richard Einhorn's Voices of Light (The Princeton Festival).
Ms. Surine is active in the DMV choral scene and currently sings with the Dualis Ensemble, the Washington Master Chorale, and the fully professional choir of Christ Church Georgetown, D.C. She has previously sung with the Choir of St. James Cathedral, Chicago and is an alumna of Notre Dame Vocale.
Katie holds a M.M. degree in Voice Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University, and a B.A. degree in Music and Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Epsilon Indiana. She has also participated in the MIOpera 2020 Role Study Program, the Oberlin in Italy program in Arezzo, IT, and the Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera (EPCASO) in Feltre, IT. Katie currently studies with soprano Mandy Brown, and she has previously studied with Elizabeth Futral, Elizabeth Bryne, Deborah Mayer, and Kiera Duffy.
